A few years ago, we granted the very first wish at Shanghai Disney Resort when seven-year-old Yuanbao met the lovable snowman Olaf from “Frozen.” Now, as we celebrate wish-granting all month long, we are proud to share that we have granted over 100 Disney Wishes at Shanghai Disney Resort!

What better way to applaud over 100 Shanghai Disney Resort wishes – and prepare for an encore of the next 100 wishes – than with a concert to benefit Make-A-Wish Shanghai? With the support of Shanghai Disney Resort, the Shanghai International Youth Orchestra and Make-A-Wish Shanghai held the first “Wishing Star Charity Concert” at the Walt Disney Grand Theater in Disneytown. Nearly 1,000 guests – including wish families, partners, and guests joined for a morning of celebrating wishes come true. What better way to support the magic of wish granting than with the power of music!

Let’s set the stage — imagine stage curtains opening, with Disney characters and dancers greeting delighted guests as part of the opening performance.

President and General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort Joe Schott, and Vice President of Government Affairs and Community Relations at Shanghai Disney Resort and Chairman of Make-A-Wish Shanghai Wang Yan inspired the crowd with their speeches. CEO of Make-A-Wish Shanghai Elynn Wang presented a trophy and certificate to Shanghai Disney Resort in recognition of their long-term collaboration. As a special surprise, the wish-granting Genie from “Aladdin” also made an appearance!

Talented musicians from the Shanghai International Youth Orchestra performed songs from Disney and Pixar films such as “The Lion King,” “Coco,” “Mulan” and more.

Wishes change lives and are transformational for children with critical illnesses. They renew hope, uplift spirits and bring families, friends and communities together. For more than 40 years, Disney has worked with charities around the world to grant wishes for children and teenagers. Shanghai Disney Resort carries on this tradition by working with wish-granting non-profit organizations such as Make-A-Wish Shanghai.
