We recently shared news about the Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program’s milestone of inspiring more than 2-million hours of volunteer service across America. Today, we’re excited to continue efforts celebrating family service with more details on the impact of this effort and the search to recognize the country’s most dedicated volunteer families.
Disney is proud to support Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, in launching a nationwide search for the Disney and Points of Light Volunteer Family of the Year!
From now until June 20, 2019, schools and nonprofits registered for the Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program can nominate a family exemplifying the incredible power of volunteering together. The selected family will be recognized and participate in a unique family service project at Walt Disney World Resort this November for Family Volunteer Day.
“We believe that when families play, explore, learn, and work together, the scene is set for magical memories that last a lifetime,” said Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. “Family volunteering deepens bonds, and strengthens communities—and with a little pixie dust in the form of a visit to our parks, this program has made a significant difference.”
Since launching last year, the Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program has mobilized nearly 500,000 volunteers representing more than 84,000 families, generating more than 2.2 million hours of volunteer service. More than 10,000 projects have been completed, representing all 50 states.
Here’s a look at how these achievements are adding up.
